Noted swordsman and poet Cyrano De Bergerac is madly in love with Roxanne but is ashamed of his deformed nose and feels he cannot tell her face to face.

She in turn is hopelessly smitten by the handsome but tongue-tied Christian. Cyrano chivalrously writes love poems for Christian to give Roxanne that eventually win her affection.
