American Beauty tells the story of Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) a suburban father who feels his life has become to be a mere and pointless existence. Unaware that he is experiencing a mid-life crisis, things just seem to be getting worse for Lester and he decides to quit his job and indulge in a teenage-like world where he feels no burdens or pressure.

Lester’s life starts to change dramatically as he starts to lift weights, smoke pot and becomes uncontrollably infatuated with his daughter’s sexually over flown best friend. Tension begins to build in the family as Lester starts to get lost in his new world where he is slowly starting to forget the difference between right and wrong.

American Beauty is a dramatic and thought-provoking film that won five Oscars including Best Picture 1999 and Best Actor for Kevin Spacey.
