This nature walk is a wonderful opportunity to take a gentle stroll in the beautiful Peak District, at any time of year you choose. In the spring, some of the dales are filled with rare wild flowers such as early purple orchids, mountain pansies, cowslips, meadow saxifrage etc, and these walks at that time of the year would involve finding and identifying different types of flowers.
During the winter months, it is a good time to study the rock formations on the dramatic Peak District grit stone edges and learn a little about the geology of the area, as well as learning to identify some of the lichens that grow on the rocks. What's more you will learn about how you can minimise your impact on fragile natural environments whilst you are enjoying walking through them. So if you're looking to explore the Peak District, this guided nature walk is the best way to view it all.
To begin you will meet with your guide at a pre-arranged meeting point who will then discuss where you will be walking and what you can expect to see. The walk will be between three and four miles and can vary depending on the time of year. Therefore, you may focus on learning about wild flowers, animals, geology, conservation or local history. These walks take place in all weathers, however if it is deemed unsuitable your walk will be rearranged. Remember to take your camera as there will be plenty of photo opportunities.
