The story picks up three months after Bea killed Jacs Holt. While Bea has been languishing in the slot, violence, narcotics and brutality have taken hold and Franky as top dog is anything but merciful. However, there's a new Governor on the cell block and she's cutting the supply. Sly, unnerving and relentless Joan "The Freak" Ferguson will stop at nothing to ensure her prison is clean.

Joining the inmates is Simmo, Jac Holt's second in command, aiming to claim her territory; Maxine Conway, a transgender inmate trying to survive unsuccessfully below the radar; Sky Pierson, an out-of-control drug addict who will stop at nothing for her next fix and Jess Warner, Wentworth's youngest resident whose angelic demeanour belies her manipulative nature. Prison officers Fletch, Will and Vera need to be on their guard to cope with the prisoners and their new commander.
