Adapted from a classic West End farce, Wilfred Prescott (Alfred Drayton) enlists the help of an eccentric psychic researcher to purge the spirit from his possessed daughter so that she can marry the son of wealthy businessman, Vincent Ebury. When Ebury witnesses the psychic shenanigans he gives Prescott twenty four hours to banish the spirit or else the wedding will be called off. When an insurance salesman visits the house, the spirit erupts into a frenzy and leaves a trail of comic encounters in its wake.
