This crime drama series is based from the novel by Martina Cole. Cathy Connor and Eamonn Docherty, growing up on the estate, formed a strong bond but were pulled apart from each other under difficult circumstances. Cathy is now more than determines to not turn out a prostitute like her mother, Madge, but after getting abused in care, the only option for her is to run away and live on the streets where she meets a transvestite, Desrae. Whilst all this is going on, Eamonn is getting into trouble and this eventually leads to murder, so he sets off to New York where he quickly becomes a notorious villain.
