The series follows the "Fringe Division" of the FBI and Homeland Security, who are tasked with investigating strange and inexplicable mysteries that reference a parallel universe.
This fifth and final series starts in 2036, where watchers from far within the future have travelled to 2015 after having ruined earth in their own time. They have systematically killed a large amount of the human race in an event called 'the purge', and begun to subjugate the remaining population. Having miraculously hidden themselves away, the Fring Team must reunite and figure out a way to turn back time and save the earth.
