Romantic tale of two young lovers who are from different worlds and their struggle to stay together.
Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) is a poor young carpenter who meets Allie (Rachel McAdams) at a fair, immediately smitten he tries to win her affections. They have an intense summer romance but are separated by Allie's rich parents when the family moves away at the end of the summer.
Years later after graduating university Allie gets engaged to a pilot Lon (James Marsden) but with feelings still present for Noah she returns to the town where it all started in hope of seeing him again.
