Flags of Our Father/ Letters From Iwo Jima
€32.99
Flags of Our Father
For 70,000 marines who fought with bombs blasting and guns blazing, the bloody battle for Iwo Jima was more than the turning point of World War II; it was the defining moment in their lives.
In the epic that The New York Times calls "a sweeping spectacle", Academy Award-winning director* Clint Eastwood taps into the single greatest emotional truth of warfare: soldiers may fight for their country, but they die for their friends. Hailed by critics as "a film of awesome power and blistering provocation, as amazing feat" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), Flags of Our Fathers is a powerful true story of heroism and bravery that should be shared and remembered.
Letters from Iwo Jima
Sixty-one years ago, US and Japanese armies met on Iwo Jima. Decades later, several hundreds letters are unearthed from that stark island's soil. The letters give faces and voices to the men who fought there, as well as the extraordinary general who led them.
The Japanese soldiers are sent to Iwo Jima knowing that, in all probability, they will not come back. Leading the defense is Lt. General Tadamishi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe), whose travels in America have revealed to him the hopeless nature of the war but also given him strategic insight into how to take on the vast American armada streaming in from across the Pacific.
