Drafting in Sam Ricketts as Captain proved to be an inspired move as he bolstered defence alongside the formidable Batth, Ebanks-Landell, and Golbourne. It was this strength in defence that gave the likes of Dicko, Sako, and Griffiths the confidence to move forward and find the kind of free-scoring form that ultimately saw the season end with a tally of nearly 90 goals, 103 points, and the League One trophy.
