Linda (Russell) and Henry (Christopher Lloyd) share an uninspiring, sexless marriage. Henry is more interested in his model train set and being spanked by his nurse than in being with his wife. Linda, drifting through life, remembers longingly the child she gave up for adoption twenty years earlier, until one day she meets a young drifter who claims to be her long lost son, returning to America to reclaim his lost childhood. As Linda embarks on a relationship with the son she has dreamed of for so long, the lines between reality and fantasy become gradually less clear.
